Zapier vs HubSpot's Stripe app for Stripe subscriptions (2026)
Zapier reacts to events; HubSpot's Stripe app keeps objects in step. Which one fits depends on what you need to see in HubSpot.
| Zapier | HubSpot's Stripe app | |
|---|---|---|
| How it works | You build Zaps: a Stripe trigger (for example new customer, new subscription, canceled subscription, failed payment) runs an action in HubSpot | A sync with default mappings between Stripe and HubSpot objects (customers, contacts, invoices, products, payment transactions, subscriptions) |
| Good for | Alerts and simple updates when something happens: create a task on a failed payment, update a contact when a subscription is canceled | Having Stripe records as objects in HubSpot to report on |
| Plan limits | Depends on your Zapier plan; see Zapier's pricing | Subscription sync needs HubSpot Enterprise; custom mappings need Operations Hub Starter or higher |
| Watch for | Each Zap covers only the events you built; check whether past data is back-filled before relying on it for history | Reviewers mention limited subscription syncing, one-way sync, duplicates and tax handling |

A simple rule
If you want HubSpot to react to Stripe events, Zapier is the lighter route. If you want Stripe subscriptions to exist in HubSpot as records you can report on, you need a standing sync, either HubSpot's app (Enterprise for subscriptions) or a dedicated connector.
Whichever you pick, check the result
Event automations miss events when a Zap is off or an error is not retried; syncs drift when matching fails. Compare a month of Stripe subscriptions with the HubSpot side using our manual check: missing customers, cancelled-in-Stripe-but-active-in-HubSpot, plan and amount differences, duplicates.

Want this as a read-only audit?
Billtwin checks HubSpot invoices against Xero and QuickBooks Online; it does not read Stripe. Separately, we are building a read-only Stripe-HubSpot audit with a small group of design partners: it would compare the two subscription by subscription and write nothing to either system. Design partner pricing would start at $99 a month. Nothing is for sale yet.
