Manual Stripe-HubSpot check vs a sync tool (2026)
A sync tool moves data; it does not prove the data is right. The question is how much checking you still do by hand, and how often.
| Manual check (export and compare) | Sync tool | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Your time; the method is in our 10-minute guide | Zapier by plan; ClearSync from $149 a month by Stripe ARR; HubSpot's app listed as free (subscriptions need Enterprise) |
| Best when | A few hundred subscriptions or fewer, checked monthly or before a board report | Reps and workflows need subscription status in HubSpot every day |
| What it does not give you | Live data; every check costs time again | A guarantee: reviewers of HubSpot's own app report subscription syncing gaps, duplicates and tax handling issues |
| Effort to set up | None beyond two exports | Connection, plan mapping, customer matching, then a first verification |

Use both
Most teams that adopt a sync tool still reconcile: after the first sync, and then on a schedule. The check is the same four questions: which Stripe customers are missing in HubSpot, which cancelled subscriptions are still active there, where plan or amount differs, and where customers are duplicated. That is also the case for an audit that only reads and writes nothing, which is what we are exploring with design partners below.

Want this as a read-only audit?
Billtwin checks HubSpot invoices against Xero and QuickBooks Online; it does not read Stripe. Separately, we are building a read-only Stripe-HubSpot audit with a small group of design partners: it would compare the two subscription by subscription and write nothing to either system. Design partner pricing would start at $99 a month. Nothing is for sale yet.
